Fabio Righi, President
and CEO
Fabio Righi is responsible for developing DigitalPersona's strategic business
relationships and setting the overall direction for the company. Prior to joining
DigitalPersona he served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President
at VideoLogic, Inc. where he established the company's first Silicon Valley
office. Righi was also part of the founding management team at Logitech International
where he held a number of key positions over a twelve-year period. In his last assignment he served as Vice President and General Manager
of the American region where he was responsible for Logitech American Retail operations. Righi holds a Laurea Degree in Electrical
Engineering with a major in Computer Science from the University of Rome, Italy.
Vance Bjorn, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder
As co-founder of DigitalPersona, Vance Bjorn co-developed the core algorithm for fingerprint recognition, the foundation of DigitalPersona's technology. In his role as CTO he is responsible for establishing key business and technology relationships and evolving DigitalPersona's technology to meet the demands of the market. Bjorn was awarded by the Department of Defense the prestigious National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship (NDSEG) to pursue doctoral studies in Computer Science at MIT. Bjorn is also a recipient of the MIT Technology Review TR100, a national award for technology innovators under age 35. He holds a B.S. degree with honors in Engineering and Applied Science and an M.S. degree in Computation and Neural Systems from the California Institute of Technology.
Brad Messerman, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Brad Messerman is responsible for the finance and accounting functions. He brings to DigitalPersona over 25 years experience in working with rapidly growing companies, including IPO preparations, mergers and acquisitions, business and strategic planning as well as general financial and accounting management. He originally joined DigitalPersona in a consultant role as partner at BK Associates, an accounting and business services firm. Messerman’s prior roles included VP, Finance at Beatnik, where he was instrumental in acquisition and IPO preparation activities. Previously, as Controller at Internet Profiles, he played a key role in the development of a corporate strategy that included an acquisition by Engage Technologies and their subsequent IPO. Earlier, Messerman held accounting and consulting positions at Internet Shopping Network, Xytronix and Deloitte & Touche. Messerman holds a B.S. in Accounting from San Diego State University.
Michael Printz, Vice President of WW Sales
Michael Printz is in charge of OEM, reseller and enterprise sales at DigitalPersona. Printz has over two decades of executive experience building and leading global sales organizations in the carrier, networking and storage industry. Printz was most recently VP of Sales with LongBoard, Inc., a VC-funded VoIP company focused on fixed mobile convergence for leading carriers and service providers world-wide. Prior to LongBoard, he was Sr. Director, International Sales at Gadzoox Networks successfully growing international sales to over 50% of the company’s revenue base and contributing to their successful IPO in 1999. Earlier, he played a significant role in contributing to the revenue and overall valuation of ZeitNet which was acquired by Cabletron. Prior, Printz has held senior sales positions at SynOptics (now Nortel Networks) as well as Wyse Technology.
Kenneth Brownlee, Vice President, Operations & Hardware Engineering
Ken Brownlee brings broad research and development experience to DigitalPersona. He is responsible for all aspects of business operations as well as hardware engineering, including design, development and manufacturability of DigitalPersona's proprietary fingerprint readers. Brownlee has led teams in the design and development of complex optical and electronic products, including the transfer to overseas manufacturing. Before joining DigitalPersona, Brownlee was President and Founder of Brownlee Precision Co., which manufactures medical laboratory amplifiers of his own design. Prior to that, he was a Project Manager at Hewlett-Packard Optoelectronics Division, where he managed a multifunctional team developing imaging assemblies for the copier and printer markets. He has been awarded five patents, and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Yale University.
Enrica D'Ettorre, Vice President of Software Engineering
and Research
Enrica D'Ettorre brings broad software development experience to DigitalPersona. She is responsible
for all algorithm research, software development and quality assurance for
DigitalPersona's fingerprint authentication solutions. Before joining DigitalPersona,
D'Ettorre held a number of software engineering positions and was a key member
of the initial software engineering team at Logitech Inc., where she worked
on a number of core development projects. D'Ettorre holds a Laurea Degree
magna cum laude in Computer Science from the University of Pisa, Italy and
was a post-doctoral fellow at the IBM, Palo Alto Scientific Center in California.
Jim Fulton, Vice President of Marketing
Jim Fulton is responsible for driving and directing all aspects of DigitalPersona marketing. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the marketing and development of security, networking, and application infrastructure products. Most recently, Fulton was the Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at GreenBorder, a leading provider of desktop web security software for consumers and businesses, which was acquired by Google. Before that, he was the acting Vice President of Identity Management Marketing at Critical Path. Previously, Fulton held numerous executive positions, ranging from Vice President of Product Management and Strategic Planning to Chief Technology Officer, at Network Computing Devices (NCD), one of the pioneers of thin client computing. Fulton began his career in software engineering and was one of the original developers of the industry-standard X Window System used by UNIX, Linux and related products to this day. He holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from MIT.
Pierluigi Zappacosta, Chairman
As Chairman of DigitalPersona, Pierluigi Zappacosta helps guide the strategic direction of the company. Zappacosta was a founder of Logitech, where he served from 1981 to 1998 in various roles including President and CEO. During his tenure, the company grew from a start-up to one of the premiere brands in the technology sector. He now serves on the board of several private companies in the US and in Italy. He holds an MS in Computer Science from Stanford University and a Laurea in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rome, Italy.
