TouchChip products are used in many applications from large scale government ID programs, to mobile ID, to enterprise security for physical and logical access control. For added ruggedness, TouchChip products are available with SteelCoat technology, which improves sensor durability while delivering excellent biometric performance.
TouchChip sensors meet a wide range of product and application needs. Building products from TouchChip sensors may take more development expertise, but can be optimized to specific needs.
TCS1 Large Touch Sensor
The largest capture area of any silicon fingerprint sensor at 12.8 x 18mm the TCS1 provides excellent biometric performance for multi-user and identification applications. The FBI has certified that this product meets specifications listed in the FBI's Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems Image quality Specifications. The TCS1 is available with SteelCoat for added durability.
TCS2 Medium Touch Sensor
The TCS2 uses the same proven silicon fingerprint capture technology used in the TCS1, but with a smaller capture area of 10.4 x 14.4 mm and at a lower price. TCS2 comes in several coating and package options.
TCS4K Swipe Sensor
The TCS4K is an enterprise-friendly solution for PC makers looking for versatility, including a wide imaging area, and standards-compatible minutia matching in a power efficient implementation.
The TCS4K / TCD58 chipset is an all-in-one, enterprise-friendly solution capable of performing all the necessary functions to match a finger that is swiped across the sensor surface against a pre-enrolled fingerprint template.
TCS5 Swipe Sensor
A high-value solution for the PC market with advanced capabilities, the TCS5 supports faster finger swipes, enables improved usability and provides low power consumption ideal for USB-based products focused on maximizing battery life.
The TCS5 Chipset is the most cost-effective solution capable of performing all the biometric processing locally, for best usability, and providing advanced features like Power-On Authentication (POA) and One-Time Passwords (OTP) supporting a range of providers.
TouchChip modules provide a self-contained biometric matching system in a compact and cost effective package, getting you to market fast with proven biometric technology. These products use the TCD58 companion processor to capture fingerprint images, extract and match templates and communicate via USB, SPI or UART. They include integrated bezels for quick mechanical integration, and come pre-calibrated so you just plug them in and they work. They include a fast and accurate minutia matcher and can store and match up to ~100 templates. An optional gasket is available to provide ingress protection to IP63. These all-in-one solutions enable quick integration into devices such as mobile ID terminals, USB peripherals and door locks without porting algorithms. Options include: FIPS-201, SteelCoat for added durability, and 3.3v or 5v inputs.
TouchChip Modules (TCET)
TCET is the latest version of our TouchChip modules. They provide a thinner package with improved bezel for simpler mechanical integration. These modules are electrically and software compatible with the 1st generation TCEF/TCES TouchChip modules, allowing for easy migration. At 3.6mm (0.15) thick, the TCET modules are the thinnest, lowest powered fingerprint capture and matching modules available today.
TouchChip USB Modules (TCEF)
For USB applications, DigitalPersona offers the TCEF modules. These self-contained TouchChip modules provide image capture, extraction and matching with on-board TCD5x processor in a compact, cost effective package.
TouchChip Serial Modules (TCES)
For SPI or UART applications, DigitalPersona offers the TCES modules. These self-contained TouchChip modules provide image capture, extraction and matching with on-board TCD5x in a compact, cost effective package.
Swipe Embedded Module
When you want a flexible, cost effective, swipe-based fingerprint matching module, the TCESC4K is for you. This compact module puts a lot of value into a package that is only ~0.8 x 0.8 x 0.14 (~20mm x 20mm x 3.6mm). The TCS4K swipe sensor is 192 pixels wide, captures a 9.2mm wide image for excellent usability and includes SteelCoat for added durability. The on-board TCD5x processor captures fingerprint images, extracts and matches templates (up to ~100) and communicates via USB, SPI or UART. A low power finger detection circuit wakes the system in ~15ms, extending operating life in battery applications. Mechanical integration is easy with pre-drilled holes. Applications include USB tokens, door locks, safes, USB peripherals, automotive applications and other devices.

These proven products offer helpful features including: dual-color LED's for user feedback, power-on LED, USB data encryption to the host (optional), device provisioning to interface to specialized software applications, ingress protection (IP63) for dust and moisture protection and a stable weighed base.
